Wine of Gossip

One’s individual happiness depends to a large extent upon his protecting himself and others from the hurtful results of gossip and jealousy. See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil, think no evil, feel no evil. Most people can talk about other persons for hours; intoxicated with the wine of gossip, they never think of its poisonous effects. Is it not remarkable how some people can smoothly, joyously, for hours at a time make the most caustic criticism about the faults of others, but cannot themselves endure for a moment any reference to their own faults!
